Youn Myeung-ro : ウィキペディア英語版 | Youn Myeung-ro
Youn Myeung-ro (Hangul: 윤명로, Hanja: 尹明老; born 1936, Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do Province) is a South Korean painter. An influential figure in the development of Korean modern art, and contributor to the ''Dansaekhwa'' (Korean Monochrome Movement), Youn portrays his interiority by exploring the abstract. Influenced by Informel and Abstract Expressionism in the former part of his sixty-year artistic career, Youn is known for employing profound color schemes and stable compositions. By demonstrating interrelationships between matter and space, Youn emphasizes going back to nature, maintaining Korean the traditional spirit in his works. In contrast to Western Minimalism and the act of reduction, his monochrome paintings are composed of accretion and layering. Moreover, he explores the physical limitation of material. Through unplanned confrontation, Youn has developed various experimental techniques, continually endeavoring to reflect his inner world. ==See also==
